Urban Farming

I'm not going to try to reinvent the wheel here or attempt to come across as some kind of know-it-all. Suffice to say we love all the gardening that we do every year. It beats going to the gym, and it saves us money. At our home in the wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, we've ripped up most of our lawn and have about 500sf of garden beds, in addition to our two plum trees, grape vines, and chickens. It's been a consistent part time job. Here's a short collection of photos over the last few years.

Some of the items we have grown

Plants and food: grapes, plums, raspberries, strawberries, mint, tarragon, thyme, rosemary, sage, parsley, lavender, basil, chili peppers, scallions, onions, leeks, various peas, various beans, popping corn, tomatoes, potatoes, shallots, kale, collards, lettuces, escarole, garlic, beets, carrots, summer squash, asparagus, artichoke, and other stuff we are probably forgetting right now.

Flowers and bushes: various allium, calendula, sunflowers, roses, dahlias, daisies, borage, smoke tree, comfrey, wild ginger, hydrangea, and kerria.
